ASTM International has established the following standards for labeling medical devices.
MR SAFE is defined by ASTM as: "An item that poses no known hazards in all MR environments."
MR CONDITIONAL is defined by ASTM as: "An item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions for use."
MR UNSAFE as defined by ASTM as: "An item that is known to pose hazards in all MR environments."
